Our goal is to make you a more consistent golfer.

Would you test drive a new car in a simulator? Of course not. So dont test drive a new driver, fairway wood, hybrid or iron in a simulator either. At Golf Headquarters we have our own covered (and heated) driving range open year round so you can see the ball flight associated with different clubs as you go through the fitting process.

While Tom, Harry or Dick can take certain measurements and tell you what clubs you should use, the fact is the swing is a dynamic movement and only through watching you swing can a professional club fitter help you find the proper clubs for your game. And without properly fit clubs, no golfer will be able to reach his or her optimal performance.

Irons

The Golf Headquarters custom fitting session will check six related variables to determine the right irons for your game. The six are:

Length:  The proper length of a golf club is a function of your height, length of you arms and swing plane. The correct shaft length will prevent a golfer from having to alter a natural swing arc in order to make optimal contact.

Lie Angle:  The lie angle of a club is the angle formed by the sole of the club and the shaft. Having the correct lie angle will cause the center of the clubhead to touch the ground at impact rather than the heel or toe. If the heel is raised, a slice may result; if the toe of the club is raised, a hook may result.

Shaft Type:  While the basic choice is still between graphite and steel, the composition of how those shafts are made such kick point, shaft weight and torque rating must be considered also.

Flex:  The shaft flex impacts things such as trajectory, accuracy, distance and consistency. Most golf clubs are available in a choice of 5 flexes: Ladies, Light, Regular, Stiff and Extra Stiff.

Grip:  The wrong grip size will promote a slice or a hook. Grip selection is normally based on FEEL (tacky, firm, soft and coarse), SIZE (undersize, standard, mid, jumbo and arthritic) and STYLE (wrap, tour velvet, cord, half-cord and more).

Set Composition:  Hybrid clubs and lob wedges are two of the numerous clubs that give golfers a wide range of choices in the clubs they carry in their bags and make the need for professional custom club fitting more important.
